well a few days ago i was tagged by the valentine journals to say 7 facts about myself. i am very excited as this is my first ever blog award, so it will probably be bad.. but i will have fun doing it :)

ohh waitt, i just realized i did this just the other day. damnn. well ill try to tell you some new things about myself..

i love the idea of writing on a beach at sunset. im yet to do it because it is quite a dysfunctional time and arrangement, but yeahh. it seems so romantic.

number two. well i often get teased because i cant smile for photos. if i do smile for a photo, it is the same smile every time and it looks stupid. well thats what people say so i believe them, naturally. sort of like my fear of mirrors, if you read my earlier post haha.

i get obsessed with certain songs and i listen to them about fifty million times a day, and then i get sick of them and stop all of a sudden. and i dont listen to it for ages. ahaa thats how i swayy. at the moment its wasted by cartel and islands by the xx. it will be completely different tomorrow.

i cant stand people who are superficial. or superficial and beautiful. i think i already said that one... in my last post like this. its sort of connected to my fear of mirrors......

i used to be obsessed with dice. in primary school. i have so many now, silver with electric blue dots, white ones with metallic pink dots.. i even had a snuggle pillow that was in the shape of a dice. it was pretty random, but my friend Anna and I had a ball with it...

when i get married i want to be in a beautiful, floor length gown, that is completely and one hundred percent "me". i am fifteen and i have already started designing it. is that weird..?

umm... one more...

i named my blog "She Loves Velvet" because i love velvet... and becuase a person who is very special to me told me to choose that name out of a list of ideas that i had made, also including "Wide Eyed Owl" and "Lace Houses".

okayyy, well that was tough :) now time to pass this on.

My name is Katarina.

I was born in Austria, but moved to Australia when i was very young.

My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice.

exciting news....

okayy well here's my goo news.

well these holidays mum and i have been doing heaps of vintage shopping, and one of the shops we went into had this georgous top. it was a plain black singlet top with strips of random pieces of material around the neckline, forming a deep v-neck. its hard to explain but i will post a picture later.

so mum and i decided that it was a good idea, and that i would be able to do it myself, and work on it. so i have made several singlet tops , and have expanded the idea to denim skirts and shorts. mum knows someone who has just opened a shop in a country town and she says she would love to see my stuff :) im so excited hahaa. and if that doesnt work out, mum says i can open an etsy shop, or an online store like that (im not sure if etsy works in australia...?) but yehh, thats my exciting news. i will take pictures of my clothes tomorrow before i take them to the shop :)

2009 was an interesting one for me. I lost a friend that meant everything to me. We had so much in common it was uncanny, but distance tears people apart, and i was truly sorry to loose you.

But i also started my new school and have made countless new friends, gotten to know more of my family, and Im altogether having a fabulous time, and i wouldn't change it for the world.

i went to a party new years eve, and had a great time with all my friends. What did you guys do?

hello to my 41 followers (still can't believe it!!)

well yesterday was the 11th of december. that day is a busy day for birthdays for me: one of my friends from school, Ebony, has her birthday. And my dad, and my friend from my new schools dad. Its amazing how many people i know have their birthday on that day :)

Well i have done an amazing amount of charity shopping in the last week. Have probably gained around 40 new pieces of clothing in the last fortnight. I need a new wardrobe :):):) I might post some pictures of my favourite things later. Then again i always say that :)

Well i am off to do a bit more tanning, swim a little more in our pool, take some pretty photos and then go out for dinner :) i hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

So i have been very busy recently. well i am super dooper excited because my mum has just decided to make a blog about our family and stuff for our relatives and things, so a big shout out to her :)

there's not much to the blog at the moment because she really only just made it about 5 minutes ago, but she has asked me for my help (or more i said i would help, or rather take over :) so it will be a fantastic and exciting new project for me!

Haven't been getting much done recently- just been studying. my first exam is tomorrow, so i have lots to do, but i am doing this in a study break so its o-k-a-y...

Hello all :)

This is what i wore out for dinner the other night (well, last night actually) with some black ankle boots. The dress was $2 from an op shop (i know! crazy, huh?) and the belt was $1 from one too (its a beautiful, vintage belt made of straw or something, with a brass buckle- so excited when i found it!)

I have uploaded my pic and will post tomorrow of what i wore to the lavender farm- the photos turned out really nice!

Sorry about the terrible photos- they were on my ipod, and i uploaded them to my mac :)

I thought you might all like to see photos of me at my new school. Well these were taken on my birthday, when we had a reflection day and learned about Christian sexuality...

Anyway, when the teacher left the room, one of the girls quickly got out her camera and took some photos. Understandably, I'm on the very left of each photo with the brown terrible hair (what was i thinking?)

Anyway so they are them. My closest friends are also in there but by the time i have finished you will be asleep, so i wont :)

And very good news! Do you all remember how quite a few posts ago, i said how my mum wouldn't let me wear high heels until i had good posture , and i kept my shoulders back? Well recently i have been making a really good effort, and she has finally said i can start! Any tips on learning? Which types should I start on?

Will post pics from shopping yesterday later, as i am going out later today for lunch and i want to post what i am wearing- a new outfit! I am very excited!

Well my chickens yesterday i went to a picnic in the country. I haven't ever been to anything like this, but it is with the cancer research group my grandmother and mother are part of. Was very good :)So far today i have been to 3 op shops (op shops are the love of my life- just about everything i own is vintage and from there) I have bought a tortishell wallet and some beautiful jackets. And back of to school tomorrow :(

Why do men love dressing up as women?

I just dont get it. Its hilarious, but I just don't get it.

I went to a costume party not long ago, and absolutely loved it! it was so much fun, getting ready and then seeing what everyone else was wearing. We are thinking of organising one for my mum's 50th birthday- a while away, yes, but hopefully it will happen and be a great sucess. But the theme: 80's, Celebrity, ...the choices goes on! What do you think, and what would you dress up as?

Winnie The Pooh was my sister's all time favorite, and so, being the oldest, the love of it has stayed with me instead of her (does that make sense?)

He had been saving them for a Rainy Day and was beginning to wonder whether it would ever rain again and whether, by the time it did, there would be any juice left in them, when Pooh and Piglet came by.
"Hallo, little Piglet," said Eeyore. "Hallo, Pooh. And what are you doing around here?"
"We came to see you, Eeyore," said Pooh.
"A quiet day, was it Pooh? An if-we-haven't-anything-better-to-do sort of day? How very thoughtful."
Piglet wondered how it was that every conversation with Eeyore seemed to go wrong.
"Time hanging heavy, was it, Piglet? And, Pooh, I would thank you not to stand on those thistles."
"Which ones would you like me to stand on?" asked Pooh.
"But, Eeyore," squeaked Piglet, "it's C-C-C-"
"Have you swallowed something, little Piglet? Not a thistle, I trust?"
"It's Christopher Robin," said Pooh. "He's coming back."
While Pooh was talking, Eeyore went rather still. Only his tail moved, brushing away an imaginary fly.
"Well," he said, rather huskily, then paused. "Well. Christopher Robin … That is to say … heretofore …" he blinked quickly several times. "Christopher Robin coming back. Well."
How adorable is it?? I cant wait to get it! Anyways, sweetnesses, i'm off to do a spot of shopping in a suburb called Leaderville (which, may i add, is the spot Beyonce did her shopping in when she was on tour the other week) so i have to go, but i look forward to posting again tomorrow, and, hopefully, reading my endless amounts of comments (hint hint :)

Does anybody apart from me find these pictures absolutely breathtaking? I love velvet: the feel, the shine, the dark, rich colours. some of those dresses are just amazing.

At the moment i really want a velvet blazer. that would be amazing. Probably in a dark purple *sigh*

Yesterday my mum and i found a beautiful antique velvet dress- it is floor length and has the top part (from the neckline to just under the boobs, and the sleeves) velvet, with gorgeous roping in the same colour. The sleeves are all droopy, and it really feels like a dress straight out of Romeo and Juliet or something. And to make it an even better buy, it was only $8. so exciting!

Sorry about the lack of posts- my laptop is broken, so i am having trouble doing anything at the moment. I just came back from melbourne, where i used to live, and i went over with my laptop, my camera, my ipod and my phone. I returned only with my ipod. I am going to DIE without my technology. My phone was stolen when i was shopping, my laptop broke and i forgot my camera. What to do, what to do.

Anyway i hope my lovelies are having a good time doing whatever it is they're doing, and now im off to write a draft of my next post so i wont be so boring all the time!

Long time no see!

Hello all. Sorry about the long absence- i have eally been very busy.

So first thing is first- i need to do a bit of a brain dump about school (a brain dump is my loverly mum's terms for just writing everything you have in your mind).

It was my birthday on Thursday, and that was the day when i felt that i was really beginning to fit in. I had only been at the school for 4 weeks, and yet when i got on the bus there was a girl with a large box of chocolates (favorites) for me. then, when i got to school, all my friends were waiting near the bus terminal, with presents, all wrapped up, in their hands. I managed to gather another ox of favorites, and box of roses (chocolates), a box of lindt chocolates, a perfume, a bracelet and $20. All this meant so incredibly much to me, just because it was a sort of sign that they liked me, and that i was fitting in alright.

While im on the topic- i got lots for my birthday- ill post some pics later. But i did buy a pair of gorgeous, retro doc martens from the op shop- $20!! I had been searching forever, and then these babies found me and we're inseparable!

So i think i am finally fitting in, even though i am am a year older. Cant remember whether i have

said anything about it, but i had to be a year older here because in Wa children finish school when they're 17, but in melbourne they finish when they're 18. so i was in year 9 in melbourne, but now again in Perth, because otherwise i would be getting ready for my exams in ears 11 and 12, and i have done the preparation that the people here my age would have. (i'm not sure if any of that made any sense...)

On a completely different note, i have had an idea, provoked by a comment The Glamourous Housewife left me a while back, and that was that i have some absolutely gorgeous clothes that i just don't know how to wear. So my idea was to post photos of clothes liek that, and get people to leave comments with ideas. many people i know love that sort of thing, and hopefully i can get some great help from you guys! So look out for my next post- i can't wait!

hello my lovelies...
sorry about the long absence. have started at my new school and, as you can imagine, it is taking up my whole life. I promise to write soon about how it is going and everything, but i have loads of homework and dont have much time, but thought i should write something to prevent me being thought of as dead.
Also i am very excited about my birthday- only 3 sleeps away!! yay!
Okay so i promise to write soon, and post some photos of the wedding i went to recently- i wore the most georgous dress....and my boots (my grandmothers boots actually)...

Secrets, Jeans and Mary Janes

Hello all- I hope your having a wonderful day.

Well last night went to my cousin's house to sleep over; they were having a "Welcome back to Perth" sort of celebration. I made the best chocolate cake ever- really rich and dark, with really nice chocolate icing. And we went for a swim in our local lap pool just before, which was annoying seeing as it is winter, but i need to make sure i am keeping up my fitness. I haven't swum in over a week- that must be some sort of record for me! (i swim 5 days a week, soon to be 8)

I am still searching for my perfect Bettina Liano jeans, and i also want more shoes. Goodness, i love shoes. My mum is being very strict , saying "they can't be more than 2 cm high...", but i will get around her eventually. I cant wait till i can wear sky high heels. *sigh*

They dont look very nice in the pictures, but they are a very slimming colour and flattering cut. So yeah, these are them; the Bettina Liano Ace jeans. I have found around 4 second hand pairs in op-shops, all under $20, but they are NEVER my size! It is so annoying! And the kind of shoes that I want are Mary Janes. I love mary janes- they are clean cut and really pretty. Or boots. I like boots.

Now i want to share a secret. I have never told a soul- its too embarrasing. I have a major aspiration. I have a dream of what i want to be when i grow up. Those that know me would probably laugh (and will probably laugh) if they read or knew this, but here it is: I would love to be a model. There, i said it. I think it would be the best job there is- wearing beautiful clothes, meeting beautiful people, I think i would enjoy it immensly. But there is know way i could ever be one. But there is my secret, and i am glad i have finally said it to someone (or the world...)

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. In Perth, Australia, it rained all night and all day. I hope other places are getting better weather!

For now, until tommorrow (when i look back over this post and read over what i have written and probably die of emmbarrasment...)

My interview...

Well, as promised, i must talk about my interview. And I must say it did go well (except for a tiny incident in the middle of it when my phone rang. To make it worse the ringtone was Amy Winehouse- not a good look when i am trying to get into a Christian high school...) Everyone was welcoming; the principle came out to meet us and everything. I will still miss my old school and friends, but i hope that i am able to make some new friends (unfortunately not one of my strengths- i am a bit shy around new people)

There are a few problems with the school, however. It will be a 40 minute bus ride from our house, to get there, and then another 40mins to get home. That adds up to a lot of travelling time per day, and a lot of potential study time being taken away.

The other is that because W.A is on a different education scheme to Victoria (where i moved from) i should be in year 10 in perth, but i was in year 9 in melourne. I know that most teenagers would jump to the opportunity of missing a whole year of school, but it is a long time, and a lot of work for me to miss out on. And plus the students my age are preparing for their year 11 and 12 exams, and getting ready for university, where i havent had any of the pre-preperation that they have... so in short i will have to be a year older than anyone. Its not like i am not good at schooling- i get reasponably good results, so they are going to put me in advanced math and stuff. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
But thats why i am really worried about making friends: if the people i will be with are anything like the students of the same age at my old school, i may as well sit by myself from the first day!

We'll see how it goes.

What am i doing, rambling on like this? This is supposed to be a fashion blog, not somewhere for me to talk about my problems.

This afternoon i will make another post, i have decided, and make it completely to do with fashion: not even one word regarding this post. Yes; thats what i'll do!

Getting Dressed: A Daily Struggle

Another post. And I'm constantly checking my dashboard. I am getting obsessive with blogging. I am constantly thinking of things that i can post which look worthwhile reading (does that make sense...?) and i have so many things that i want to write, but don't know what to say!

I am, at this moment, pondering what I should wear to my interview at my new school. As The Glamorous Housewife said, "Why do I look the best on days when I don't have anything planned?" And I am wondering why when i have hardly any time i can never think what to wear; even though i have a closet full of beautiful clothes. None of it will do- i either wear it too often, don't know how to wear it, or simply don't want to. So i am stuck. Anybody have any foolproof outfits that are easy to put together? Help would once again be appreciated...

Well, I'm going off now to get dressed for my interview, and I will tell all about it later.

Ace jeans, shopping and Alannah Hill

Somehow we got to 3 shopping centres today. Although the many opportunities for me to buy a new pair of jeans, i didn't seem to find anything to my liking. If would greatly appreciate it if someone could let me know of any Bettina Liano shops in W.A, or just in Australia- i have been looking for ages for my perfect pair of ace-jeans!

I thought i would attach some photos from a few Allanah Hill fashion shoots that i really like. So here goes:

The Beginning

There is all of us: A big happy family

My second post. I can't believe i have gotten this far! Last night i fiddled with the header- what do you think? It took me ages but i still dont think i am happy with it.

Not to worry- i will just...fiddle. More.

Above are some photos from my last day of school in Melbourne. I have just moved interstate, and will be starting my new school soon. I am so scared, and excited, but mostly missing my friends in Melbourne, who would be at school right now. So I post my favourite photos, and along with them goes many happy memories.

Starting Off

Well, here is the start of something ridiculous. I desperatley want to make my blog look great, read great and be great, but there is a problem. I dont know how. I dont know how to do anything!
And yet here is my first post.
